Liminal ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Liminal iOS app, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum information needed to provide the app's features:

• Account information — If you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address (Apple may provide a private relay email). You may also sign in anonymously, in which case no personal details are collected.
• App activity — Rituals you complete, journal entries you write, activities you log, and family members you add. This data is stored on your device and synced to our secure database (Firebase Firestore) to keep your progress safe.
• Usage data — How you interact with the app, collected via Firebase Analytics to help us understand which features are useful.
• Device information — Basic technical data (device type, iOS version, crash reports) collected via Firebase to maintain app stability.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, personalise, and improve the Liminal experience
• To sync your data across app reinstalls and devices
• To understand how features are used so we can improve them
• To diagnose and fix bugs and crashes

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your personal information with third parties except as described below.

3. Third-Party Services

Liminal uses the following trusted third-party services:

• Firebase (Google) — Authentication, database (Firestore), analytics, and crash reporting. Data is processed under Google's privacy terms. Firebase Privacy Policy
• Sign in with Apple (Apple Inc.) — Optional authentication method. Apple manages your credentials and does not share your Apple ID password with us.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored locally on your device and synced to Firebase Firestore, which is secured by Google's infrastructure. All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption. We use Firebase App Check to protect our backend from unauthorised access.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account exists. If you delete your account from within the app (Settings → Delete Account), all your data — including journal entries, rituals, activities, and family members — is permanently deleted from our servers within a reasonable time.

6. Children's Privacy

Liminal is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, you can delete your account directly in the app, or contact us at the address below.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
